Villa Hugo is part of the Apartmány Lučany offer and provides a peaceful base for a stay in Lučany nad Nisou. At present, there are two apartments – Apartment Hugo Infra and Apartment Hugo Finnish. Each of them offers its own atmosphere and its own type of sauna.

 Villa Hugo combines peaceful accommodation, privacy and comfort with the atmosphere of a house that has its own story. It is designed for guests looking for a pleasant base for their stay in the Jizera Mountains – whether they come for relaxation, nature, or trips around the area.

At Villa Hugo, a range of apartments is gradually being created, with an emphasis on clean style, functional furnishings and a comfortable stay without unnecessary complications. Independence, peace and a simple arrival and access to the apartments are a matter of course.

Shared facilities and amenities 

Both apartments offer comfortable facilities for a stay in Lučany nad Nisou. Standard amenities include free Wi-Fi, a private bathroom with shower and toilet, a fully equipped kitchen, television, storage space and a sauna. In the summer season there is also the option to store bicycles in lockable premises, and in winter skis.

Plans for the future 

Villa Hugo is gradually being transformed. In the future, the garden will be redesigned to offer an even more pleasant setting for relaxation – outdoor seating, a grill, a hot tub, a relaxation zone and, depending on possibilities, also a swimming pool.

The Story of Villa Hugo 

A house connected with a name that far exceeded the borders of Lučany 

Villa Hugo is named after Hugo Jäckel, who had the villa built. The house is therefore not only a place to stay, but also a reminder of the time when Lučany nad Nisou was part of the strong entrepreneurial and glassmaking environment of the Jablonec region.

The name Jäckel is associated with the company J. W. Jäckel & Co., whose roots go back to 1815. In 1880, Hugo Jäckel joined the company, and it was under his leadership that it became an exceptionally important export business. It was not a small local firm, but a company that traded far beyond the borders of the region and of what was then Czechoslovakia.

The company focused on the production and trade of glassware, costume jewellery, beads, seed beads, cut stones, chandelier pendants, glass rings, bracelets and other goods. It was part of what made the Jablonec region known throughout Europe and the world. Over time, it built an extensive trading network and, in addition to Europe, also operated in India and West Africa.

The company opened its first African branch in Lagos in 1908. By 1913, it already had a total of eight branches in Europe and British West Africa. In 1937, it was operating 26 African branches – 20 in Nigeria, 3 on the Gold Coast, 2 in Senegal and 1 in Ivory Coast. This alone shows that it was a company of exceptional importance, which grew from a regional environment into truly international trade.

The size of the business reflected this as well. In the interwar period, the company employed approximately 40 to 60 people, and by 1937 as many as 95 employees. The company’s turnover then reached 52,615,851 CZK, making it one of the strongest export houses in the region. Converted to today’s purchasing power, this roughly corresponds to about 883 million CZK. It is important to add that this is a comparison of turnover, not profit or company value.

The story of Villa Hugo is therefore not just the story of a single house. It is a reminder of a time when Lučany nad Nisou had a firm place in the economic and industrial development of the region. Today, this history is continued in a different way – with respect for the place, its past and the character of the house. Villa Hugo thus connects history with new use and offers peaceful accommodation in a house that has its own identity and memory.
